Dear Zerk,
Hey, I finally made it to the United State and let me tell you what, it’s amazing. The Statue of Liberty was the greatest thing I have ever seen. The people inside the building to get me admitted were nice but they could have been better. When I got out of there all the people I met there they were mean and nasty to me. I had to get a place to stay so I searched but then I remembered I had to get a job first. I found a job at a place called a slaughter house. Its much like we used to do as kids, killing pigs for fun but they made it into a job. They pay really good, 1.00 a week. The place I live in is Philadelphia and it is better than home.
The boat ride to the Americas was long and most people were sick the whole ride. There was no room to sit and my legs and arms were cramped. When we got near the island and I was mesmerized by how big the statue of liberty and how complex the structure was. When it was time to get off the big ship everyone piled out of it and most people were trampled but I was in the back so I’m ok.
The building to get evaluated to get admitted to the United States was jammed full of people from all over the world. It took hours to get up to the room for evaluation. They asked me a bunch of questions about why I wanted to be an American citizen and all that other stuff. When I got out of there it was dark and I didn’t know where to go so I slept on the ground in an alley way where no one else was.
When morning came I went through the town to find a job. Most of the wanted signs I seen were for non-immigrants only and I was mad. There was one job that I found and its was a slaughter house. All of them were looking at me when I came in and they asked me all these questions. Then they hired me on the spot and I started that day. I get paid 1.00 an hour and I went out to see if I can find a house.
I finally found a house and I got a bunch of money saved up I want you to come over here and live with me. Philadelphia is way better than home and all the people I know are so nice. You would like it here. I almost forgot, I found a wife her name is Charlene, we got married last week in a big church. I am looking forward to seeing you in the next month or two.

Your brother,
Zedrick’
